This year (2016) marks the 25th anniversary of the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s entry into the University of Nebraska. It is also the 111th anniversary of the convening of the first classes at the Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney. The number “111” is significant to the institution’s history as it is the number of ballots required for the state Board of Education to select Kearney as the institution's home. This online exhibit presents materials associated with UNK history—particularly the 1991 transition from Kearney State College to the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
